About us

The Cooperative Santa María Egipciaca, founded in 1977, has a wide experience in the wine sector.

The constant desire of improvement by the partners and the staff of the cooperative, together with the quality of our lands and wines, contribute to the growth and development of our processes and products.

The premises of the cooperative have the most modern technology keeping at the same time the tradition making possible the production of excelent quality wines, both reds and whites. Our vineyard, with over 2000 hectares, is based on the area known as Ribera del Guadiana, in the Extremadura region in Southwestern Spain.

Our vineyard's soil is mainly loam with an average altitude of 250 meters and a continental Mediterranean climate with cold winters, moderate rainfall and warm summers with many hours of sunshine which favours the optimum ripeness of the grape that is picked up in August when it reaches its maximum aromatic potential, giving a nice and deep wine, pure expression of our land, with the guarantee of the Protected Designation of Origin Ribera del Guadiana and the qualification of Food of Extremadura.

Our vineyards are part of the beautiful landscape of red earth and gentle slopes characteristic of the area of Tierra de Barros in Extremadura, predominantly covered with the indigenous white grape variety "Pardina", "Cayetana", "Montùa", “Beba de los Santos" jointly with our new vineyards of "Macabeo”. Regarding the red grapes varieties, the main one is "Tempranillo" which alternates with other varieties such as “Syrat"," Petit Syrat” and "Cabernet".
